Country artist on Raleigh schedule

Oregon is rarely considered a hotbed for country music, but a popular star got his start on the West Coast, and will be in Raleigh before the end of the year.

Jackson Michelson was raised in Corvallis, and notes that growing up, he followed the pattern of most of the town's young people, going to school during the year and then working on a farm in the summer. However, he also grew up listening to the music his parents loved—his father played soul records while his mother liked country. He has blended the West Coast sound with American Southern country to create a style all his own.

When Michelson's brother began touring, the younger man went along to handle the merchandise. He enjoyed touring so much he joined bands in Corvallis, and began writing his own music, often drawing his material from the real world. He eventually made the move to Nashville to continue his career.

Known for his prolific touring schedule and audience interaction, a review says:

“Been following Jackson for years and he sounds better than ever! . . . His lyrics are clever, his tunes catchy, and what a fun, sincere, authentic personality. He has a great rapport with the audience.”

Jackson Michelson will be at The Tin Roof in Raleigh at 8:00 pm on November 13. Brochure printing can provide fun programs for this type of event.
