Trimble, a company located in Silicon Valley, has formed a strategic alliance with 3Gtms, a software firm located in Connecticut. The deal could bring jobs to Raleigh's Research Triangle Park.
Trimble has made an equity investment in the Connecticut company, and entered into a commercial reseller understanding with a company known as TMW Systems, which has offices in the U.S. in Oklahoma City, Nashville, Dallas, Indianapolis, and Cleveland, as well as the Triangle and Vancouver in Canada. TMW operates under the Trimble umbrella, as part of its Transportation and Logistics Division.
Details of the agreement were not available, though Jennifer Kamienski, a spokesperson for Trimble, says it will mean an increase in jobs. At this point, however, it is not clear where the new positions will be located. Kamienski did say that if North Carolina or the city of Raleigh were interested in offering Trimble incentives to bring jobs to the Triangle, the company would be extremely interested in having that discussion.
TMW Systems caught the Triangle's eye in 2007, when Trimble's Cleveland operation bought TMT Software, located in Durham, thus becoming part of the market in the Triangle.
Should Trimble increase the number of its employees in Raleigh, the company might consider working with a business card printing company, so that new employees have current information available on their cards.
