The 77th annual National Folk Festival will take place in Downtown Greensboro for three days next month, produced by the National Council for the Traditional Arts and Arts Greensboro.
The festival is set to feature over 30 cultural groups, poets and musicians who will be entertaining attendees on seven stages. The Traditions Stage, in the North Carolina Folklife area, is set to feature young musicians who are carrying on the musical traditions of their ancestors, while the Hear my Words Stage will feature a variety of spoken-word performers. Among those performing at this year’s festival are the Cole Mountain Cloggers and Dark Water Rising. Also in the North Carolina Folklife area will be the craft gallery where artisans will be demonstrating some traditional artistic skills.
There will also be a family activities area with hands-on craft activities, games, parades, and entertainment geared to children. In addition, there will be several food courts.
The North Carolina Arts Marketplace will feature 55 artisans who will be selling handmade items such as jewelry, clothing, pottery, and paintings.
This popular festival attracts approximately 160,000 visitors each year. In order to advertise in Greensboro and surrounding areas, organizers may invest in brochure printing services.
The National Folk Festival will be held in Downtown Greensboro from September 8 to 10. Admission is free. Call 336-373-7523 to find out more about this popular annual event.
