A mid-January event is bringing an award-nominated performer to a High Point audience.
Musician, composer, band leader, and arranger Matthew Whitaker has worked on television and in film, released records, performed with orchestras, taught students, and advocated for improvements in accessibility. Blind from birth, he can play several instruments, learning them from the age of three.
The New Jersey musician’s latest show will be held in High Point Theatre, where he will be performing alongside his fellow quintet members. Tickets for the event can be found on Etix, via a link on Bandsintown. The prices will run in a range that starts at $30.69 and goes up to $68.05. Residents of High Point are able to purchase the tickets with a discount of $5 by contacting the venue’s box office, as the offer is not able to be applied online.
Whitaker’s discography includes songs like “Journey Uptown,” “Freedom Jazz Dance,” “Take A Break,” “Black Butterfly,” “His Eye is on the Sparrow,” and “Stop Fighting.”
The High Point concert is booked for Saturday, January 17. Many musicians will create merchandise to sell at shows. To do this, a company focused on graphic design is often hired to create new items. The performance, which is a part of the venue’s 50th anniversary celebration, is set for a starting time of 7:30 pm.
