Greensboro buzzes with anticipation

The 4th annual Bee Friendly to Bees Days festival is taking place in Greensboro next month. It is presented by North Carolina Cooperative Extension and North Carolina Extension Master Gardener volunteers.

The festival is held to celebrate National Honey Bee Day, which is observed to teach the population of the United States about beekeeping and the important role of these winged insects.

There are set to be plenty of educational opportunities, as well as fun activities over the course of the day. Visitors will have the chance to talk to Guildford County beekeepers and master gardeners, or can visit a bee hive, tour a pollinator garden, and buy native plants.

There will be the chance to build a bee hotel, to learn all about pollination and to learn how to compost. There will also be a scavenger hunt, learning stations, and children’s activities.

Visitors can also try some pollinated food samples or taste some honey right from the hive. Vendors will also be on hand to sell a variety of food and other items.

In order to advertise, organizers may decide to distribute Booklets or Flyers throughout Greensboro.

The festival will be held at the Guilford Extension Demonstration Garden on August 19 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Admission is free. To learn more about this event, contact Hanna Smith at 336-641-2400.
