An interesting device was showcased at an event at the National Pawn in Raleigh on Saturday, July 13.
A new device from Entrupy Technology is helping shoppers tackle the issue of counterfeit goods by identifying which are legitimate and which are fake.
People who live in nearby towns such as Greensboro and have trouble identifying if their handbags are genuine or not can bring their goods to the pawnshop and have them appraised. The device specializes in verifying handbags.
According to reports, one out of every six shoppers is duped by counterfeit luxury items. The device from Entrupy Technology helps to curb these incidences by taking several photos and other details about the handbag such as the Logo Design and then comparing them to a database that stores thousands of photos. The device processes the information for a few minutes and then gives its decision on whether the item is genuine or not with an accuracy rate of 99.1%.
The event that showcased the device in Raleigh was free to attend. Light refreshments were on offer and the April event featured an appearance from Producer Ben, who is a radio host at G105. Handbags were also on sale for those who wished to buy verified-genuine goods on the spot. People who wished to sell their handbags for cash were also invited.
The organizers also held a raffle and the prize was a verified-genuine Louis Vuitton bag.
