What's Happening in Fayetteville, NC…

Fayetteville introduces local scaly set

A Fayetteville activity is set to shine a spotlight on the snacks that call North Carolina home, and it may help to make these creatures seem a lot less scary.

The goal of the NC Snakes session set for the J. Bayard Clark Park and Nature Center is to help people develop a better understanding and even appreciation for snakes. It will be running for one hour, and there is no admissions fee to participate.

The facilitator for the class will discuss snakes and clear up some common misconceptions about them. Everyone will learn how important they are to local ecosystems, and their anatomy and behaviour will both be on the agenda. Tips for distinguishing between those with a venomous bite and non-venomous species will be included, and the attendees will wrap up the workshop by petting and interacting with a live but friendly snake.

Offering the public an opportunity to learn more about a group of animals may be useful in addressing their fear of them, and it may even make them want to offer them a helping hand. Stationery printers will be happy to supply any printed learning materials required for an activity.

Fayetteville nature fans and those interested in learning more about these scaly members of their community can do so during this snake focused session scheduled for January 23rd. It will begin at 3:00 pm.
