Pasta-making class delivers new skills to Durham
Pasta lovers from Durham and the surrounding area will want to make a note in their journals of an upcoming event, as a pasta-making workshop is coming to town.
The Pasta-Making Class: Southern Italian Pastas and Sauces is welcoming students and participants for an immersive learning session in a few weeks. The gathering will be led by Carmella, the owner of Melina’s Fresh Pasta. She will lead students through each step of the pasta-making process before ending the event with the much-anticipated tasting experience.
Carmella has family heritage in Calabria, a town located on the “toe of the boot” in terms of Italian geography. The session will start with tips and guidance for making hand-rolled pasta using flour and water. Brochure printing can provide step-by-step guidance and more information to those who sign up for such workshops, allowing them to continue learning at home.
Students will make pasta noodles from three regions of Southern Italy, along with quick sauces to serve with them for a savory snack or meal. After registering, each student will receive a recipe book from the class via email. Individuals with food allergens can contact Carmella about their options.
The workshop will be hosted by Il Laboratorio on Wednesday, March 5, running from 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM. Tickets are available online, starting at $76.54 per student.
