Electrification company expands in Cary

A new USD Power Electronics Center of Competence will be built by Hitachi Energy in Cary.

The new facility will span 32,000 square feet and will create 150 jobs, expand local system integration, testing, and engineering capabilities and accelerate the delivery of solutions to help developers and unities meet the surging demand for electricity.

The development of such new facilities and their benefits for the community and the nation at large can be made known with flyer printing.

The Power Electronics Center of Competence will bring together advanced operational capabilities and deep domain expertise in a single location, while developing a highly skilled local workforce close to customers. This localization of performance validation and design and the deployment of standardized, modular solutions will enable developers and utilities to rapidly add capacity to the grid, improve voltage stability, reduce congestion, and operate electrical networks more reliably and safely.

In addition, the facility will serve as the global hub pf the company for advanced cybersecurity solutions. By integrating continuous monitoring, architectures that are secure by design, and rapid incident response capabilities, the Center will strengthen the ability of customers to secure the convergence of operational and technology environments. The combination of the company’s deep engineering expertise in power quality, high-voltage direct current, and grid-stabilizing systems will enable the Center to help modernize infrastructure while maintaining secure and resilient operations.

The facility is scheduled to open this fall.
