Cary to remain host of major soccer festival

An agreement has been reached between The Soccer Tournament (TST) and the town of Cary to keep the premier 7v7 soccer festival through 2029 at WakeMed Soccer Park.

A grant from the North Carolina Department of Commerce Major Events, Games, and Attractions Fund is supporting this partnership as it recognizes the impact of TST in attracting visitors, showcasing the state on the world stage, and driving local spending. Eligible expenses made in the state up to $6.8m will be reimbursed by the funds over the length of the agreements.

Such news is often spread throughout a community with flyer printing.

Harold Weinbrecht, mayor of Cary, said that what makes the town special is its people, including its citizens, volunteers, and staff who take pride in the city and make visitors feel welcome. He expressed his pride in hosting The Soccer Tournament and sharing this experience both locally and globally for many years in the future.

Jon Mugar, CEO of TST, said that the residents and the town of Cary have played their part in helping TST become the world’s leading festival of its kind. He added that this funding will help to ensure that TST will be able to deliver on its vision for participants and fans to have an unforgettable experience, which will further make TST a global destination.
