Major pickleball competition to come to Cary

The Cary Tennis Park will be hosting the Veolia Pickleball National Championships later this summer.

The tournament will include some of the top players of the game including Gabe Tardio, Anna Leigh Waters, and Chris Hayworth in addition to residents from North Carolina including Brooke Buckner and Kate Fahey. This year’s tournament will also have fun for the family including well-known food and fare pickleball camps and clinics led by professionals, sponsor activations, and music concerts, among other activities.

The Veolia Pickleball National Championships feature the unique combination of professional and amateur competition of the Professional Pickleball Association (PPA). The world’s best players will vie for titles and vital ranking points, while pickleball enthusiasts of all ages and abilities compete for medals and bragging rights on the professional courts.

Connor Pardoe, Founder and CEO of the Carvana PPA Tour, said that pickleball is becoming increasingly popular both in the United and around the world, and North Carolina has demonstrated their deep passion for the sport.

Harold Weinbrecht, mayor of Cary, expressed his excitement about how the experience of the PPA Tour has grown in the city and his pride in welcoming the world of pickleball to the city.
