Creatives and nature lovers in Missoula will have a chance to enhance their drawing skills later this month, as a local artist is hosting a botanical drawing workshop.
The Botanical Drawing Class with Kaelee Thompson will allow interested individuals in the Missoula community to take part in an experience bringing art and nature together. The class will guide students through the basic drawing utensils and materials, along with the most effective techniques for botanical drawing.
Thompson, an experienced local artist, will be guiding the session and providing tips to enrollees, while also assisting with botanical inspiration. Participants will get to practice their composition skills, learn to use light and shadow, hone their contour drawing, and try different shading techniques. Local Print shops can provide artists with Copies of their latest works like those produced at events like this, making sharing with friends and family simple.
Students will use plants as drawing references throughout the session to make their own sketches. Each participant will leave the workshop with a completed graphite drawing of the botanical element that stood out to them while honing their confidence and drawing skills.
Leaf & Quiet in Missoula will host the drawing class, which will run from 6:00 to 8:00 PM next Monday, May 25. Enrollment is open online for $30 per student.
