The new state-of-the-art facility was opened on August 14 at MetraPark and is designed to host PRCA rodeo events. The arena will host more than 3,000 people, replacing the former grandstands that were removed in 2020. The complex was built in a modular fashion, with an eye toward easing future expansion. Even though the facility is new, operators expect it to be less expensive to operate. Costing $2.5m, it is the newest outdoor arena in Montana, intended to attract top names on the PRCA circuit.
Montana Governor Greg Gianforte helped locals celebrate the August 14 opening in a press release and stated:
“This arena will be a place where families gather, people compete, and our western traditions are carried forward for generations to come.”
Gianforte further supported the rodeo profession by recently signing House Bill 190 into law, designating American rodeo as the state’s official sport.
The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) was established to promote the preservation of one of America’s oldest sports. It was created in 1936 and sanctions over 600 rodeo events in the United States yearly. Flyer printing is often used to promote local upcoming events.
Stoney Field, the General Manager of MetraPark, stated that over 26 rodeo events are scheduled for the remainder of 2025.
