The exhibition, ‘Art for a World at War: WWI Posters and Editorial Cartoons’ is showing at the State Historical Society of Missouri Research Center until February of next year.
It features many of the original Posters that were used to encourage men to sign up to fight in the war and editorial cartoons that helped get the rest of the public on the side of the war effort. This exhibit also features some historic artifacts from World War One. Though it is a self-guided tour, Curator of Art Collections Joan Stack will be hosting a walk-through of the exhibit this November.
Many of those in the Columbia who are employed by graphic communications and printing companies may be interested in visiting this exhibition. It will give them an idea of the history of graphic arts while possibly inspiring them in their next project.
‘Art for a World at War’ will be on display at the State Historical Society of Missouri Research Center on the Lowry UMC Campus until February 14, 2015. The walk-through is taking place on November 8 beginning at 1:30 PM. The gallery is free to attend and open Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 am - 4:30 pm and on Saturday from 9:00 am - 3:30 pm.
