Columbia to celebrate Burns Day

Each year, communities around the world honor the bard Robert Burns by hosting special celebrations, and Columbia is one of the cities on that list.

The District will be the venue for the Burns Supper and Ceilidh Dance. A ceilidh is a traditional Scottish or Irish party with music and dancing, and this will be part of the experience offered to the ticket holders for the event.

The function will include a dinner, and the “haggis” will be piped in following the popular tradition. While it is not legal to sell actual haggis in the USA, a substitute will be on offer. Sticky toffee pudding will be served as well, and while there is no dress code, everyone is advised to wear attire that will be comfortable for dancing. A tasting room will be open so the adults in the crowd can enjoy some samples, and the music for the event will be supplied by Central Missouri Celtic Arts Association. Tickets start at $25 each.

A banner printing company will be happy to make a themed community celebration like this even more festive. It can supply a wide selection of decor, including items that may be used more than once.

The Burns Supper & Ceilidh Dance will salute the area's Celtic side on Saturday, January 28. The venue will be located at 11 South 10th Street.
