Columbia class welcomes local shutterbugs

Columbia shutterbugs who would like to gain some experience when it comes to studio photography are welcome to be part of an activity that will offer this opportunity.

Vidwest Studios will be the venue for a three-hour afternoon workshop that will introduce the basics of studio-style photography to those aged 15 and up. Everyone is asked to bring a camera, although there will be a limited supply of loaners available to those who need one.

The facilitator, Jonathan Asher, will cover the basics of digital photography, and the use of an off-camera flash and other light modifiers will be reviewed. Attendees will learn about strobe and continuous lighting and which one to use for a particular situation, and the differences between phone cameras and ones with interchangeable lenses will be discussed. Working with models will be on the agenda, and the session will be hands-on.

A workshop may pack a lot of learning into a small amount of time, leaving the attendees eager to learn more. Handouts may be distributed so they can do so even after an activity has drawn to a close, and they can be prepared by Stationery printers.

This introduction to the art of studio photography will run from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Sunday, February 23. The venue is located at 1600 Business Loop 70 East.
