Rapper to hit home truths in Lansing

A rapper who has gained a following by tackling real issues is on the way to Lansing.

Old Man Saxon has an unusual history—he left a secure job to try and break into the music industry full time. He was in Los Angeles, and lived in his car for most of 2014, surviving by taking showers at the gym, eating fast food, and working at a restaurant at night. Saxon accepted his life, but also realized others were doing the same thing, living hand to mouth while they tried to break into the entertainment industry.

This realization was the spark for a change in his material. Instead of tackling the more traditional themes of power and money, he began to express reality as he lived it. The change enabled him to connect with his audience, many of whom felt isolated and were living in dire circumstances. He says that living alone in his car allowed him to hear his own voice clearly, and develop it.

A review of his appearance on “Rhythm + Flow” says:

“With his signature three-piece suit, charismatic stage presence and witty lyricism, he quickly became a favorite with the audience, the judges and his fellow contestants.”

Old Man Saxon will be a Mac's Bar in Lansing on October 9 at 8:00 pm. Flyer printing can be used to create handouts to advertise events like this.
