Lansing to gear up for scrap metal festival

Next month, Lansing will host the ScrapFest 15, a festival that will celebrate the craft of making art and sculptures out of scrap metal.

The ScrapFest 15 Festival is a culmination of the hard work that scrap metal artist teams have been doing during May, where teams are pitted against each other to create the best scrap metal sculpture. The teams source up to 500 pounds (or 250 pounds for those in the Small Category) of scrap metal from Friedland Industries and use this material to create works of art.

These artworks will be displayed at the festival in June, lined up along Turner Road in Old Lansing for viewing. The works will then be juried and awarded first, second, and third place, as well as People’s Choice, and will be sold during a silent auction. The festival will also feature various booth artists, the Refashion Show, food trucks, family activities, and a documentary showing.

Organizers of festivals like this may decide to use Posters to advertise for the event, so they may decide to seek out the services of local Print shops specializing in poster printing services.

The ScrapFest 15 Festival is slated for July 11 and July 12, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. It will be held at Old Town, which is at 218 East Cesar East Chavez Avenue.
