Lansing is rolling out the red, white and blue carpet to welcome one and all for its special celebration planned in honor of the country’s 250th birthday.
The city’s downtown core will be marking the country’s semiquincentennial year with a parade and other activities. The main sponsors for the festivities are Meijer and the Lansing Board of Water and Light, and the organizers have given them a tip of the hat to thank them for their support.
The day will start with the downtown’s Independence Day Parade, which will begin at 11:00 am at the Capitol Loop. Local businesses, organizations and individuals will be taking part, and there may still be room for more to join the fun.
As the evening approaches, the public can head to Adado Riverfront Park for a concert under the stars, and this will be followed by a fireworks display. Everyone can bring a blanket or folding chair so they can relax and take in the show.
