A Lansing native is making it big in rap, and is now on the way back to his hometown.
Cyrus is bringing his “We Should Just Enjoy Ourselves” tour to Mac's Bar for a fun event. Cyrus is a songwriter, rapper, singer, and producer, who released his first EP just after he graduated from high school. Soon after, Cyrus and another young musician, Thomas “phourthelove” Fentress began to collaborate to write and release music, with Cyrus doing most of the vocal work, and Thomas tackling the engineering and production.
The duo has opened for major performers including Big Sean and Chance the Rapper. They continued to release singles and another EP, and in 2014, they produced a mixtape that caught the attention of The Specktators Collective, an independent record label based in Michigan, which signed them. In 2015, Cyrus released “Love, Cyrus,” his debut EP on that label, which has been streamed more than ten million times. A review of one of Cyrus's songs says it has become one of the reviewer's “top ten songs for rap/hip-hop.”
Cyrus' special guest is Call Me Karizma, a rapper from the Twin Cities who started rapping in seventh grade. Karizma collaborated with DJ Gnash on “No Words,” which is on SoundCloud and has been heard over a half-million times.
The concert is set for March 21, from 7:30 pm until 10:30 pm, at Mac's Bar on East Michigan Avenue. Flyer printing can provide handouts for events like this.
