This April, the Emotional Regulation for Improved Behavior in Children and Youth Workshop will be held in Lansing to help mental health professionals with their clients’ dysregulation.
Dr. Ginny White, Ph.D., MA, BA, will lead the one-day workshop, using her experience in neuroscience and biology, as well as the Polyvagal Theory, to train class participants in trauma and healing practices. The workshop is a part of the Trauma Informed Care Certificate collection and will count as three continuing education contact hours (CECHs).
As an elective course, the class is designed for those who belong to the introductory or beginner skill levels. The main topics to be discussed are what self-regulation is, how it can be achieved, and how we can guide others towards it. Students will learn about the practice and development of self-regulation, what state regulation is, and how to find healthy ways of having a flexible nervous system. Dr. White will further discuss what happens when clients become dysregulated after experiencing traumatic memories, and how to work with them to overcome the dysregulation.
Academic workshops such as this will often rely heavily on printed education materials that can be printed at local Print shops.
The workshop is scheduled for April 14 from 9:00 am to 12:15 pm. It will take place at The MTG Space at 4039 Legacy Parkway. General admission is $72.
