LorAnn Oils, a local company that makes oils and flavoring for the baking and candy industry, plans to expand its Lansing headquarters, according to an article in the Lansing State Journal.
John Grettenberger, Jr., president and CEO of LorAnn, said the company had outgrown its space once again, and looked forward to “many more years of growth.” Grettenberger says construction is expected to begin this spring, and should be finished by Fall 2017.
The company, which is on Aurelius Road, plans to expand by approximately 7,000 square feet, enlarging both its production and office spaces. Nine new jobs will come along with the project. Currently LorAnn Oils employs 53 people and ships flavoring, candy molds, and oils to companies in 40 different countries. Some of its flavorings include various types of vanilla, cherry, and chocolate. The company began in 1962 in Okemos, and moved to the Aurelius Road location in 1972. It has subsequently expanded this building twice.
Lansing has approved a $143,000 brownfield reimbursement plan for the expansion, giving LorAnn Oils 11 years to repay the debt, according to the Lansing Economic Area Partnership's director of business development, Karl Dorshimer.
Companies like this can benefit by working with a newsletter printing company to create materials for local distribution. Since jobs will become available, the newsletter could give company background to potential applicants, as well as reiterating its commitment to the city.
