This July, the Lansing Makers Network will hold the Taste of Jewelry: Forged Copper Cuff class for novice jewelry makers.
The Lansing Makers Network is a creative nonprofit dedicated to maintaining a makerspace in which a diverse group of people can come together to share experiences, hobbies, and skills. The Forged Copper Cuff Class in July is designed for beginners with no previous jewelry-making experience. The class will be open to attendees 16 years old and up.
The class will guide participants through a step-by-step process of how to create a copper cuff bracelet by hand utilizing copper wire. Students will learn how to use different hammers to add textures to metal, how to use a jeweler's torch to anneal metal, and how to implement metal stamping and metal foraging. The workshop will also delve into patina and other finishing techniques, as well as how to measure a cuff bracelet for a custom fit and how to put on and remove the bracelet.
Workshops like this often utilize a variety of different teaching materials, including Posters and Brochures, which can often be printed in bulk at local shops offering poster printing and brochure printing services.
The jewelry class is scheduled for July 23 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The Lansing Makers Network is located on 2730 Alpha Access Drive. Member tickets are $75, and nonmember tickets are $85.
