A seminar for communications professionals has been scheduled for Lansing.
The Department of Communications of Michigan State University is offering its Communication Leadership and Strategy (CLS) Summer Institute, a two-day workshop discussing communication strategy. The subject of this conference specifically is “Navigating Crises in the Digital Information Era.”
Communications professionals in all sectors are faced with an environment of digital information that is evolving continuously. As the means of communication change, strategies for communicating effectively have to change with it, which is the subject of the seminar.
The workshop will give leaders of organizations and communications professionals some practical strategies they can use to minimize damage related to crises, as well as techniques to help restore an organization's reputation. Perhaps the classic case of a company that handled a crisis well was Johnson & Johnson's response to the Tylenol poisonings in 1982, which has become a case study.
The CSL Summer Institute is held annually, and brings together experts in the field to collaborate in a learning experience. Participants learn the latest research and how it applies to strategies in the real world. They also participate in practical exercises, as well as guided discussions on the challenges facing professionals in this rapidly-changing field.
The workshop is scheduled for July 27 at 8:00 am, and concludes July 28 at 5:00 pm, at Michigan State University's Brody Hall, in East Lansing. Print shops are an excellent resource for organizers of events like this to use to create course materials.
