Search begins for young actors and crew

Auditions are set to be held by the Kalamazoo Civic Youth Theatre for its upcoming production of ‘Anne of Green Gables’.

Jacki Stahr (director) and Kellee Love Haselton (musical director) will need about 30 students from the age of nine up to seniors in high school, as well as volunteers for roles onstage and production crew members. As always, the Kalamazoo Theatre is looking for imaginative and flexible cast members.

Those auditioning for the roles onstage may be asked to read from the script, learn a movement or dance piece, or be taught a short musical selection. Crew position auditions will require listening to designer presentations and speaking to technicians and designers so they can determine their interest for specific crews. Students will need to indicate whether they are auditioning for acting only, tech only, or both.

The auditions will be held on Sunday, March 8 and Monday, March 9, beginning at 4:00 pm on both days in the Carver Center in Kalamazoo. Productions such as this one often work with a local Print company for creating materials to make the auditions known to the community, and to advertise for the production itself.

‘Anne of Green Gables’ will be on show at the Parish Theatre from May 15 through May 23 and rehearsals for actors and crew will begin on March 23, meeting Monday through Friday from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
