Kalamazoo to become home to new pizza eatery

Uccello's Ristorante Pizzeria & Sports Lounge recently announced that it will be opening a new restaurant in Kalamazoo later this month.

It will be located in the former home of the Bob Evans Restaurant in the University Commons retail center. This will be the sixth restaurant in the group and will feature an updated look, which it is hoped will help to rebrand the restaurant and be a model for future ones. Restaurant officials also commented that this is the 20th anniversary of the group.

According to Chris Heileman, Chief Executive Officer of Uccello’s, the interior will have a fresh new look that will match the food and service of the restaurant. Son of the founder Uccello's Hospitality Group, Sergio Uccello, added that they are trying to grow the business while still remaining true to the basics of the company.

Mario Piccione, son-in-law of founder Faro Uccello, and part owner of the new eatery along with Faro and Sergio, commented that the rebranding will help to make an impact in the market, and that the timing of the move was right.

An opening in the early fall of 2016 is planned, and the owners may be looking to banner printing companies to Print celebratory Banners at the location, announcing the new eatery and letting passersby know when they can expect to try it out.
