Kalamazoo Bike Week 2015 is off and running, with bike rides and other bike-related events here to entertain locals.
The Mayors City to City ride got things underway at 8:30 am last Saturday, May 9, at the Portage Creek Bicentennial Park. Kalamazoo Mayor Bobby Hopewell and Portage Mayor Peter Strazdas led cyclists along portions of trails in the local area.
Continuing the theme this evening, a short film festival titled ‘Bike Shorts’ will be held at Bell's Eccentric Café, with showings at 6:00 pm and 8:15 pm.
Tomorrow, May 13, there will be a Bike Friendly Kalamazoo discussion beginning at 4:00 pm at the KRESA West Campus on cycling infrastructure and place-building efforts.
An informal ride will be held on Friday, May 15, at 5:00 pm for those who want to end their work week with a ride. The Bronson Bike to Work Group for a Critical Mass ride will take cyclists along the Kalamazoo River Valley Trail.
The week will culminate on Saturday, May 16, at the Mayors' Riverfront Park with the Kalamazoo Family Bike Fest, which will include an exhibition by the Thriller BMX Team and games for children.
David Warwick, chairman of Kalamazoo Bike Week 2015, commented that biking plays an important role in the community. The organizers of Bike Week are most likely turning to local flyer printing companies to create colorful and informative Flyers to encourage as many people as possible to participate in the various events.Get a Free Quote for Flyers
