A three-and-a-half-day basic field training officers course is set to take place this December. It is being organized by the Law Enforcement Officers Regional Training Commission (LEORTC).
The program will be taught by Steven Kellams, a highly experienced instructor and retired Administrative Captain from the Bloomington Police Department. Kellams has an extensive background in field training. He redesigned Bloomington’s field training officer (FTO) program in 2000 and has shared his expertise with many departments across the country.
The event will provide essential training and knowledge to law enforcement professionals aiming to become skilled FTOs. This program, designed to develop expertise and confidence, follows a modified version of the widely recognized San Jose training model. It offers an in-depth look at the demands placed on FTOs and equips participants with the techniques needed to enhance their role as trainers and evaluators in their departments.
The course is open to both licensed officers and non-licensed personnel. Registration fees will vary based on status and membership. For additional details and to register, attendees can visit the event listing.
Brochure printing can be used by hosts to provide take-home information to attendees of events such as this one.
The event will run from December 16 through 19. It will take place at the Grand Blanc Township Police Department, 5405 South Saginaw Street.
