A specialized training session on speed measurement technology will be held at the Grand Blanc Police Department this December.
Taught by MCOLES-approved educator Jon Strom, this course will certify officers in the use of RADAR and LIDAR technologies. This event is required for individuals who have not obtained certification or have not operated a RADAR unit for a year or longer as part of their assignment.
The training spans three days, beginning each day at 8:30 am and concluding at 4:30 pm. Officers needing only the LIDAR component of the course can opt to attend the initial four hours of the third day for that specific instruction. Attendees should come with a department car outfitted with either RADAR or LIDAR units for hands-on training exercises. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will obtain a certification that lasts for five years.
The class is restricted to 15 participants, ensuring a focused, hands-on learning environment. Registration fees are waived for licensed officers from LEORTC member agencies, while non-member agencies are required to pay a fee of $250 per participant. This course qualifies for PA 302 Law Enforcement Distribution funding.
Flyer printing can be used to inform community law enforcement about events such as this one.
The training will take place at 5405 South Saginaw St. Grand Blanc, Michigan, from December 2nd through December 4th from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
