The Commerce Township Parks & Recreation Department will be holding its annual M-5K run and walk this May, aiming to provide a chance for spring exercise in a scenic setting.
The five kilometer distance will go along the Michigan Air Line Trail and M5 Trail, beginning from On the Dunes and including some closed urban roads. The Air Line Trail was completed in 2023 after over a decade of development, and connects urban neighbourhoods with surrounding green spaces and the Great Lakes. Participants are invited to run or walk the distance at their own pace.
Proceeds from the event will go towards the upkeep of Mickie’s Dog Park in Commerce’s Victory Park. The Dog Park was recently installed to help better serve pet owners. Event sponsors will also be represented at the event with tables offering promotional items and samples, and on signage and other promotional items for the race.
All runners and walkers will receive a gift package including a commemorative T-shirt. Runs like this often use Promotional Products to celebrate the occasion and raise awareness of future editions. The run and walk will conclude with medals awarded for finishers and complimentary post-race snacks and drinks.
The 2026 edition of the M-5K Run/Walk will take place on the morning of May 16 across the Michigan Air Line Trail. Registration is required in advance.
