The first-ever Fire Safety Bootcamp for Older Adults will be held by the Saco Fire Department this fall. This workshop is a free series specifically for those in the city aged 65 and older.
This series will be in three parts and will be held at the Central Fire Station on North Street. The staff of the Saco Fire Department will lead the workshops. Important topics will be covered at each session to help attendees stay informed and remain safe both in their community and home.
Among the topics to be discussed are fire safety in the home; when and when not to call 911; tripping, slipping, and preventing falls; how to enroll in CodeRED, the emergency notification system used by Saco; and safe disposal of sharp instruments and medications. Such important and unique workshops are often promoted throughout a community with poster printing.
A maximum of 25 people may attend this bootcamp, so registration with the executive assistant of the Fire Department is required. Reservations for the boot camp will be on a first come, first served basis.
The mission of the Saco Fire Department is to enhance the quality of life for current and future generations in the community. The fire chief is David A. Hamel.
The workshops will take place from 9:00 am to noon on three Saturdays, with the first being this Saturday, September 6, and others following on October 4 and November 1.
