A Fire Safety Bootcamp for Older Adults workshop series will be held this summer and fall by Age Friendly Saco and the Saco Fire Department. This workshop is specifically designed for residents of Saco who are 65 years of age and older.
The Central Fire Station on North Street will be the location for this workshop. Taking place in three parts, it will be led by the staff of the Saco Fire Department. Important topics will be covered at each session that will help attendees to stay safe in their community and their homes. Among the topics to be covered will be fire safety at home; prevention of falls, slips, and tripping; when and when not to call 911; how to enroll in CodeRED, the emergency notification system of Saco; and the safe disposal of medications and sharp objects.
Only 25 people will be able to attend this workshop and registration is required. Attendees will be notified on a first come, first served basis.
Flyer printing can be used to promote such workshops throughout a town and to help inform friends, neighbors, and family members.
This workshop will take place on August 1, September 5, and October 3, all of which are Saturdays, from 9:00 am to noon. It is expected that participants will attend all three sessions in order to benefit the most from the program.
