The newly built Rotary Splash Pad is now open at the Saco Community Center.
This project was made possible by a partnership between the Biddeford-Saco Rotary Club and the Saco Parks and Recreation Department. Construction began in October 2024 and took only seven months to complete.
The splash pad is on Franklin Street and spans 1,700 square feet. It features a variety of interactive and playful water elements such as dumping buckets, colorful spray rings, spray nozzles, and a rain curtain. More details about such new attractions in town can be covered with brochure printing.
It was also designed with accessibility features with a surface flush with the ground for easy access by wheelchairs and a child-friendly water button to start the flow of water. The water runs for 20 minutes and then needs to be pressed again for more water to flow.
This was a project that spanned several years and was led by the Rotary Club of Biddeford Saco. Ryan Sommer, director of the Saco Parks and Recreation Department, said that the help of the Biddeford-Saco Rotary, volunteers, business, and departments from the city made this project possible. Sommer added that this splash pad was made a reality by the whole Saco community.
The splash pad is open daily on a seasonal basis from the end of May through mid-October from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
