Facility in Saco selected for major military contract

The location of General Dynamics in Saco has won a contract of $191 million.

General Dynamics is a military contractor that builds combat vehicles, communications systems, submarines powered by nuclear energy, and business jets that keep people around the world safe and secure.

This contract will enable the company to build 160 new “Iron Fist” Active Protection Systems. These are used by the United States Army in its Bradley Infantry Fighting vehicles. The ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Defense and Vice Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Senator Susan Collins, said that these systems are created to defeat anti-tank guided missiles and grenades propelled by rockets.

Collins added that this contract will enable General Dynamics to hire 20 more people at the facility, which will increase the workforce there by 10 percent. Companies often turn to local Print shops to help advertise and promote such added positions throughout a city and neighboring communities.

She expressed her pleasure that the talented and dedicated employees at the General Dynamics facility in Saco have been chosen by the Army to fulfill this work of great importance that will directly contribute to the security of this country.

The fiscal Year 2024 National Security Supplemental is covering the funding for this contract. The work should be completed by 2027.
