Flying V presents another evening of theatre
The Flying V theatre in Bethesda has followed up its 2014 ‘Flying V Fights: Love is a Battlefield’ offering by creating another mix-tape evening, this time to examine the idea of heroes and monsters, and how they are perceived.
The show is ensemble based, original, and uses a number of theatrical devices to examine the theme of ‘Heroes & Monsters’, and in particular, asks if someone can be both.
It considers the heroes of pop culture who wear capes and tights, and a child's fear of the monster under the bed; it also examines people who have been heroic in real life, as well as those who should be trustworthy but are not, such as abusive parents.
The show explores the vital question of those people we like and those we fear, and why.
The production was conceived and directed by Jason Schlafstein and Jonathan Ezra Rubin, and stars Tori Bertocci, Jon Jon Johnson, Emily Whitworth, and others.
The Flying V won the 2015 John Aniello Award for Outstanding Emerging Theater Company.
The show opened June 11th and runs through June 28th, and is presented at the Writer's Center, located in Bethesda at 4508 Walsh Street.
Street parking is available, and the center is a short distance from the metro stop. Flying V might in future want to work with a banner printing company on a banner for the front of house, advertising upcoming shows.
