Chamber music performance planned in Bethesda

A critically acclaimed piano trio will appear soon in Bethesda.

The Hermitage Piano Trio comprises Ilya Kazantsev on piano, Sergey Antonov on cello, and Misha Keylin playing the violin. The group first got together in 2011, and since then has become one of chamber music’s most respected ensembles. Although they are based in the United States, they have performed at major festivals and on famous stages in Asia, North America, and beyond.

Thus far, the trio have released two recordings that encompass a wide repertoire, from contemporary American material to classical works from Europe. Their first album, 2019’s “Rachmaninoff,” featured three works by the composer, the “Vocalise” and two piano concertos, the “Trio élégiaque No. 2 in D minor, Op. 9”; and “Trio élégiaque No. 1 in G minor.” The album earned them three Grammy nominations.

Their second album, “Spanish Impressions,” explores the work of Spanish composers of the early 20th century, including Cassado and Turina. A third album, “Dvořák’s Circle,” features the work of the celebrated Czech composer.

A Washington Post review of the trio in performance said:

“...more striking even than the individual virtuosity was the profound level of integration among the players, who showed a rare degree of ensemble from beginning to end.”

The concert is set for January 22 at The Mansion at Strathmore. Unique events like this benefit from support in the form of advertisements, which can be created using poster printing methods.
