Comedian Patton Oswalt comes to Bethesda

An actor and comedian known for his long-running role on “The King of Queens” is coming to Bethesda.

Patton Oswalt has extensive credits in film and television, including the role of Spence Olchin, which he played from 1998 to 2007 on the classic sitcom “The King of Queens.” He also narrated “The Goldbergs,” a sitcom that ran from 2013 to 2023.

He made his debut as an actor on “Seinfeld,” and has since gone on to appear in numerous television series including “Modern Family,” “Veep,” “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”

He has done voice acting in “Ratatouille,” and “The Secret Life of Pets 2.” Additional film credits in his extensive career include “Zoolander,” “Man on the Moon,” and “Big Fan.”

His work as a standup comedian led to him appearing in six specials. He also won a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special, and in 2016, he won a Grammy for Best Comedy Album for “Patton Oswalt: Talking for Clapping,” a 2016 Netflix special. A review of a live performance says:

“It’s hard to remember a time when I laughed harder or for longer. . . . Joke after joke hit its target dead center, and when something wasn’t quite a bullseye, Oswalt tweaked it into something even funnier.”

Patton Oswalt will be at the Music Center at Strathmore in Bethesda on June 20. When they book shows like this, organizers can work with brochure printing to create programs that contain a biography of the performer.
