Bethesda welcomes Make Meaning, a place for crafters
Bethesda residents who enjoy crafts will soon have a store designed just for them, when Make Meaning opens in Bethesda Row.
The store, which is headquartered in New York City, has six locations around the country – two in New York City; one in Scottsdale, Arizona; one in Boston; one in Thousand Oaks, California; and now the Bethesda facility. According to reports, the Bethesda store will open June 9th.
The Bethesda Make Meaning comprises 6,000 square feet of space, where patrons can either make arrangements ahead of time to hold parties or other events, or simply walk in and enjoy creative activities. Activities available include painting, making glass projects, decorating cookies and cakes, making jewelry, painting ceramics, and making candles and soap. The facility provides the supplies and the experts to help visitors create their projects.
For example, glass making is a time-consuming process, taking several days to fire the piece. Visitors to Make Meaning can design their project, choosing glass from the many pieces provided, cut it, and lay it out, then leave it to the assistants to fire it and shape it. A glass project is usually ready in a week.
Since Make Meaning is a colorful store, it could work with a reputable banner printing company to create flags to be used within a dynamic outdoor display.
