Bethesda pays tribute to great legend
A group that pays tribute to one of music’s greatest groups is coming to Bethesda.
Earth, Wind & Fire has been going strong since they first got together in 1969. Today, their music is celebrated by the tribute band In Gratitude, who are coming to Bethesda to share the music that made EWF a legend.
Maurice White founded EWF in 1969 in Chicago, creating a band that blended the genres of Afro-pop, Latin, pop, disco, funk, soul, R&B, and jazz into a sound that made the group one of the best-selling in music history. In their career, they have sold more than 90 million records throughout the world. They have been nominated for 17 Grammys and won six; and are inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, among many other honors. Rolling Stone magazine called EWF:
Living up to this record is a challenge, but In Gratitude meets it successfully. The 13-piece tribute band offers an authentic presentation of EWF classics like “Shining Star” and “Serpentine,” but with their own spin on them. The musicians who comprise In Gratitude all have recorded or performed with artists such as Teddy Pendergrass, George Clinton, The O’Jays, Whitney Houston, and Prince.
In Gratitude will be at the Bethesda Theater on July 19. When shows like this are scheduled, organizers will often use poster printing methods to create advertising for them.
