Annapolis youngsters to learn about winter birds

The winter can be a great time of the year to watch backyard birds, and an Annapolis activity will provide a sneak peek into the lives of these feathery winter residents.

The Edgewater Library branch of the Anne Arundel County Public Library system will be giving kids an opportunity to engage in some hands-on environmental stewardship. It will teach them about ways birds have adapted to survive, and parents or guardians are reminded to register each child individually.

During the hour-long session, the attendees will find out how birds have adapted various ways for coping with the cold, and tips will be shared for offering them a helping hand. They will be taught ways to make their own backyard avian friendly, and they will all go home with some handmade seed ornaments to give their feathered friends a special treat. This activity is intended for kids from the age of 6 to 10.

Little ones often enjoy the chance to learn about the natural world, and a workshop may even spark a lifelong interest in the subject. Educational materials can be prepared by a brochure printing company, and there are lots of styles to choose from.

The Backyard Birds in Winter workshop will be offered on January 11. The registration system will go live on December 28, and the activity will begin at 5:30pm.
