Annapolis concert offers taste of colonial days

Annapolis will be kicking off another year with an event that will take a step back in time to “salon culture” that was popular during the area's colonial days.

The concert that has been planned for the community will feature seasonal entertainment that harks back to the 1700s. Customs that would have been popular with both elites and the common folk will be part of the experience, and local artists will be featured.

The gathering will include both traditional music, songs and poetry from England, Scotland and America that were popular during 12th Night Celebrations, and to add to the atmosphere, candlelight will provide the illumination. It will combine elegance with playfulness to create a unique experience, and tickets may be purchased in advance. The function is being offered thanks to the team at Hammond-Harwood House, and tickets are $50.00. A discounted ticket price will be available to its members, and at the time this was written there were still passes available.

A special performance may call for printed keepsake programs to distribute to the audience members. These can be ordered from Stationery printers that can supply in house graphic design work.

This evening of fireside revelry will bring 12th Night festivities to Annapolis on January 10th. The venue can be found at 19 Maryland Avenue, and the fun will begin at 7:00 pm.
