What's Happening in Annapolis, MD…

Annapolis organization runs annual book fair

An Annapolis organization that promotes literacy in the local community has planned an event that will help the public to curl up with a good book.

The 5th annual Anne Arundel County Literacy Council (AACLC) book fair is on the way, and it will raise monies to fund an assortment of projects aimed at developing adult literacy. Books will be sold at prices of $1 for softcovers and $2 for hardbacks.

The pop-up sale will be filled with thousands of gently used titles from all genres. Children’s books will be included, and the vintage cookbooks may be appreciated by home chefs interested in learning some new recipes.

Cash, checks, credit cards, PayPal, and Venmo will all be accepted forms of payment. A gift basket raffle draw and activities at Discoveries Library will round out the day.

To help encourage the public to fill their shelves with “new to them” books, the organizers will be supplying Literacy Council tote bags. These can be filled with books and purchased for $25 each. Organizations needing graphic design services can access them at local brochure printing companies.

The AACLC has scheduled its 5th annual book sale fundraiser for Saturday, September 27 in the Annapolis Mall. It will open to shoppers at 10:00 am, and those who arrive early will get the best selection.
