Dahlias have been described as being jewels of the fall garden, and a West Roxbury presentation will give gardeners from across Boston the inside scoop on growing these popular plants.
Originally hailing from Central and South America, dahlias have long been appreciated for their wide variety of colors, sizes and Forms. One of the sessions in the Fall Speaker series offered by the Evening Garden Club of West Roxbury will provide a deep dive into their care and culture, and the suggested donation to attend is $5 per person. Both members and non-members are welcome.
The presenter for the activity will be Gabriele Zybarth, and part of the discussion will cover how to care for these tubers so they successfully overwinter. Various cultivars, including some that are unique, will be introduced, and Zybarth will also offer tips for sourcing them in the local area. If the weather permits, there will be some of these flowers on hand for demonstration purposes.
Gardening is a hobby that many enjoy, and attending a workshop, presentation, or horticultural club meeting provides a learning opportunity. Handouts and other material for a season can be ordered from local printing services companies.
This chance to be part of a deep dive into dahlias will open at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, September 9th. The venue is located at 1 Morrell Street.
