In May, CluedUpp Games will host a murder mystery game called the Lowell, MA Ripper, a Jack the Ripper-inspired detective game designed to be played outdoors throughout the city.
Founded in 2016, CluedUpp Games is an indie games studio specializing in outdoor adventure games using GPS technology. Their flagship product line is the CluedUpp Detective adventure series, which includes the Lowell event.
For the Lowell, MA Ripper event, participants will form teams of two to six and create a unique, detective-themed group name. At least one smartphone is required per team, which will be used to find GPS-enabled clues around the city. Teams are encouraged to dress up in detective-themed clothing to further the immersion.
To maintain COVID-19 social distancing, the game can be played anytime between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm so that players can start at different times. Prizes will be awarded to the fastest team, best team picture, best costume, and a couple other categories.
For widespread events like this, organizers may choose to advertise through flyer printing, which makes it easier to showcase event details in various locations.
The Lowell, MA Ripper event is set for Saturday, May 1. The start location will be confirmed through email. Tickets are $51, with one ticket covering a team of up to six players. The CluedUpp Games’ website can offer more details on ticket purchasing.
