Thrive Communities will present the Circles of Support and Accountability (COSA) Training in Lowell this August to train community members on how to help their neighbors integrate back into the community after incarceration.
Thrive Communities is an organization that helps individuals re-enter society by providing communities with the tools, resources, and training to help their neighbors transition into their community in a healthy and safe way. The COSA training is one such way that community member volunteers can receive the knowledge and skills to do this.
The restorative re-entry training will delve into the accountability and support systems of both the volunteers and the transitioning members, which are called Core Members. Volunteers will learn about the state-enforced conditions under which the Core Members must follow after being released, as well as how to draw healthy personal boundaries while volunteering. Attendees will listen to the experiences of their formerly incarcerated neighbors and will gain further understanding through films and role playing.
In-depth workshops like this may include printed learning materials like Brochures that can be handed out to attendees. These can be professionally created at many local Print shops that specialize in brochure printing for events.
The COSA Training will take place on August 12 from 11:30 am to 5:00 pm. It will be held at 99 Market Street.
