Lowell kids to learn pottery skills in summer camp

Next month, The Pottery Mill will present a four-day summer camp focusing on clay crafts to Lowell children.

The Pottery Mill is a community space that offers an inclusive environment for teaching new skills. It often holds workshops for community members to learn or hone a new skill. The Kids’ Clay Summer Program will provide Lowell children with a unique opportunity to learn about clay handling and pottery techniques while having fun with their peers.

The summer camp will teach children about hand building with clay, as well as how to use a range of different pottery tools, such as a pottery wheel and slab roller. Camp attendees will learn how to make such items as cups, bowls, and jewelry dishes on the wheel. Other projects such as pinch pot planters, tic-tac-toe boards, and wall pockets will be available for children to try their hands at.

The Kid’s Clay Summer Program is slated for July 12 through 15, from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. The venue address is 325 Chelmsford Street, Entrance on Shaw Street, Lowell. The program is designed for children nine and up. Tickets can either be purchased in two-day increments or the entire four-day program.
