Lowell families to explore clay hand-building crafts

Pottery Mill Kids will host the Family Friendly Clay Hand-building Workshop this June as a fun way for parents and their children to explore the world of clay crafting.

Potter Mill Kids is the youth division of Potter Mill, which is a local art studio owned by Chelsi Hanley, graduate of the University of Massachusetts in Lowell, with a degree in fine arts. The studio features 2,500 square feet of making space with three kilns and 23 pottery wheels available for students to use for crafting. The studio offers free-style art sessions as well as guided lessons, such as the clay hand-building workshop happening in June.

The workshop will offer a morning of free creating with clay. For those who wish to have some inspiration or guidance, the experienced staff will also be on hand to offer ideas and/or specific projects. The aim of the workshop is to allow children to have fun with the medium of clay. The children will also be able to glaze and paint their creations.

Poster printing as a way to create advertising materials for events like this may appeal to organizers who may know of local Print shops in their area that offer such services.

The clay workshop is slated to happen on June 7 from 10:30 am to 12:30 am. The Pottery Mill is located at 325 Chelmsford Street.
