Just Dream, Inc., and Black Lowel Coalition will hold the Period Action Day Mixer in Lowell this October to highlight efforts to destigmatize periods and educate people on the realities of menstruation.
Just Dream, Inc., is a nonprofit organization that empowers and supports African American youth through various programs, services, and initiatives. Black Lowell Coalition serves as a central place to share information, such as about nonprofits and businesses, relating to the Black/African community in the city. These two organizations have teamed up to host the Period Action Day Mixer to highlight period poverty, which refers to the inadequate and unequal access to menstrual hygiene products and menstruation education.
The event will feature not only educational panels and booths, but also fun games that break down societally complex or taboo topics into easy-to-understand material. There will be food vendors and wellness activities, such as yoga and meditation. There will also be fun raffles and product giveaways.
Events that involve giveaways may invite local businesses to become involved by becoming sponsors of the event and offering Promotional Products in the giveaways.
The mixer will take place on Saturday, October 14, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. It will be held at Just Dream, Inc., which is located at 147 Central Street. There is no cost to attend, but space is limited, so guests will need to RSVP.
