Lowell baseball team plans for the future

Owner of the Lowell Spinners, David Heller, recently announced plans to improve LaLacheur Park, the home of the Spinners, for next year’s season, along with other improvements for the team.

A new, 10-year lease has been signed for the park and Shawn Smith, General Manager, said that next year will see the expansion of business partnerships by management.

New LED lights have been replaced the existing lights on the field. Smith added that that this is the first short-season stadium that hosts a minor league to have that kind of technology.

Also planned as part of a vision for a more comprehensive entertainment experience will be a grandstand with two tiers along the line of right field so as to create space for groups of all kinds to go to games together. Underneath this will be an event and birthday room for kids with video game consoles and televisions.

Continuing for next year, Heller said, will be entertainers along the concourse, such as exotic animal wranglers and face painters. He is also looking at adding another amusement ride.

More charity events, such as the 5K walk that benefited the Merrimack Valley Food Bank, concerts, and other events are planned for next season.

Organizations like the Spinners might consider using mailers or Flyers to attract people to their games and other special events like these.
