Next month, University of Massachusetts (UMass) in collaboration with York IE will host a financial planning workshop to teach Lowell startups how to manage their finances.
As part of its Innovation Hub, UMass Lowell provides local startups with helpful programming, co-working spaces, and access to the university's faculty and research resources. November’s workshop is part of its Lunch and Learn Series where experts of different disciplines hold engaging talks revolving around startups and small businesses.
The workshop will feature Janelle Gorman, chief financial officer of York IE, a strategic growth firm. She will discuss how important proper financial planning is for a budding startup to achieve lasting growth. Attendees will learn how to create a comprehensive financial model that provides a sturdy framework but also leaves room for adaptation. The workshop will be held as a hybrid model so that attendees can choose whether to attend in-person or by Zoom.
The Financial Planning and Modeling for Startups workshop is slated for November 18 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. The in-person venue will be the UMass Innovation Hub located at 110 Canal Street, 3rd Floor. There is no charge to attend either the virtual option or the in-person one.
